What will I learn?
Medical Assistants perform clinical and administrative duties in medical offices and clinics. This workshop is designed to give you a better idea of what it’s like to be a Medical Assistant.
- Overview of Medical Assisting: You will learn specifics about the Medical Assistant role including the clinical and administrative duties and responsibilities, training and certification requirements, and the importance of professionalism and teamwork in the workplace.
- Career Paths for Medical Assistants: You will learn about a variety of administrative and clinical job opportunities you may wish to pursue after gaining experience working as a Medical Assistant and completing additional education.
- Funding for Medical Assistant Training: An Individual Training Grant (ITG) is a grant to fund a career-focused training program. ITGs pay for tuition, registration fees, testing fees, and books. You will learn the qualifications and how to sign up for an ITG through the Workforce1 system.
What do I need?
You must be registered with Workforce1 to attend this session. A desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device with internet access is required. Prior work experience in healthcare is not required.
How long will this take?
This information session is held two times per month on the second and fourth Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST. Each workshop is one hour and will include a brief question and answer session.
What can I do after completing this class?
