What will I learn?

The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) Construction Site Safety Training Program provides the required safety training you need to work on most construction job sites in NYC. The training is free. After you successfully complete the required training, you will receive your Site Safety Training (SST) card for free.

This program is offered by SBS in partnership with Catholic Charities Community Services, La Colmena NYC, New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH), and Workers Justice Project (WJP).

If you have a valid OSHA 30-hour card that was issued within the last five years, you can earn your SST card by completing 10 additional hours of training (eight hours of fall prevention training, and two hours of mental health awareness training).

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Commit to completing all required course hours within the designated timeframe.
  • Register with SBS partner organization offering the course.
  • Proof of New York City residency
  • Proof of identity
  • Age 18 or older
  • OSHA 30 card received within the last five years (if applicable)
  • Interested in a career in construction

If you are interested, please call the SBS hotline at 888-SBS-4NYC (888-727-4692), available Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and ask to be connected with our Construction Site Safety Training program in your borough.
