How can I access this resource?

The NYC Web Development Fellowship is a full-time, 19- to 21-week immersive training program is designed to prepare New Yorkers with no previous professional web development experience for careers in web development at salaries of $65,000 or more.

In order to be eligible, program candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a New York City resident
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be unemployed, or earn $50,000 or less if currently employed
  • Meet all selective service requirements
  • Have no paid professional web development experience
  • Be available for all sessions of the course, including attending sessions throughout the duration of the course

What will I learn?

This full-time, 19 to 21-week immersive training program is designed to prepare New Yorkers with no previous professional web development experience for careers in web development at salaries of $65,000 or more.

What do I need?

To apply, you will need a computer with Internet service and a dedication to pursuing web development as a career.

While the Fellowship is specifically designed for people with no prior professional experience, you will need some basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with a basic grasp of some coding fundamentals, to complete the technical part of the application.

We strongly encourage you to explore this career, discover if you enjoy it, and prepare yourself with the skills needed to make sure you want to commit to the career before entering a months-long, intensive career training. That’s why we’ve made these resources available!

How long will this take?

The application process varies by training provider but typically has multiple steps that require you to prove that you are eligible for the program, explain why you’re interested, and show that you have the basic skills and commitment required to succeed.

What can I do after completing this training?

Alumni of the NYC Web Development Fellowship graduate with the preparation needed to land jobs in entry-level web development. Graduates are supported in their job search by the training provider. If you are interested in additional support with job placement, you can always contact a virtual Workforce1 Career Center.

How do I apply?

The next cohorts of this program are slated to begin in 2021; in the meantime, you have a chance to explore, discover, and prepare for a career in web development!

Each cohort typically serves between 25 – 40 New Yorkers.
