What will I learn?

Red Hook on the Road’s Commercial Driver Training Program will provide both virtual instruction and in-person, behind-the-wheel training. You will learn map reading, maneuvering large vehicles, defensive driving, and other skills needed to pass the road test to obtain the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B).

What do I need?

You will need a computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device with internet service in order to participate in virtual training. You must also have your commercial learner permit from the DMV and meet all other relevant eligibility requirements.

How long will this take?

This training program requires a full-time commitment of four to five weeks from Monday through Friday.

How can I access this resource?

Please explore, discover, and prepare for this career before beginning this step. Once you have done this and have successfully obtained your commercial learner permit, you can interview to be considered for Red Hook on the Road’s Commercial Driver Training Program.

What can I do after completing this training?

After successfully passing the CDL Class B road test, graduates are connected to jobs driving school buses, coach buses, paratransit vehicles, and trucks. Businesses in the program’s extensive employer network frequently offer benefits and good starting wages.

Graduates receive two years of job placement assistance, career counseling, and support as they continue working and advance into new roles.

If you are interested in additional support with job placement, you can always contact a virtual Workforce1 Career Center.
